Fall Mountain Tour XXXII

The 32nd Peachtree MG Registry Fall Tour will be October 22-24, 2024. The destination is Black Mountain, NC.  We have been there several times over the last 31 years and I believe all agree it is a great destination with nice shops, restaurants and many other things to do.  There is also much to see and do in the surrounding area.

And yes – for the fourth time we are holding the Fall Tour in the middle of the week, not a weekend.  The dates were selected to give us the best room rates and minimize traffic.  Most of the club members are now retired and many fall tour veterans have told me that holding the event during the week works well for them. And holding it near the middle to end of October will hopefully provide for some fall leaf color.

We are staying at the Hampton Inn just on the edge of town, within easy walking distance to the heart of town. The booking link is: https://www.hilton.com/en/attend-my-event/avlmohx-mgc-56d27c1a-ae22-41c1-b29a-c3f4e11e4f47/

or you can call 828-669-1000 and let them know that you are with the MG Car Club. The rate is $169/night plus taxes. And, they will provide a private meeting room for us! A typical Hampton Inn breakfast is included.

To cancel, you must call the hotel at least 24 hours in advance. The reservation cutoff date is October 1, 2024!

Now, some veteran Fall Tour participants may be asking, “Why aren’t we staying at the Red Rocker Inn, our usual destination in Black Mountain?” Good question. The Inn has new owners, is still a delightful place and they have renovated several bathrooms. But there are three issues: (1) They only have 17 rooms and a few are already booked for the times we would want to visit. (2) Their room rate is now $300+ a night. (3) There are multiple stairs to navigate. As a number of us Fall Tour participants have, shall we say, matured, our mobility is not what used to be. Several folks have told me that while historic inns can be wonderful places to stay, a nice new hotel with an elevator is appreciated.

As usual, the first day, October 22, will be spent traveling to our destination. The second day you are on your own; exploring shops, driving mountain roads visiting local sites or participating in a town beer crawl that has become a tradition for several of us. I will arrange for a group dinner each night of our stay. The third day we travel home (or other destinations) either individually or in small groups.  If any attendees want to organize an activity for the group while we are in Black Mountain, please let me know.

We will start the morning of October 22 at a place to be determined on the north side of Atlanta and pick up folks along the way. I will work on the route during the summer. There are a number of very nice roads we can take to Black Mountain.

Stay tuned for further details. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the trip, please give me a call at 404-310-9283 or send an email to hartlein@bellsouth.net.  See you in the fall!

If you are planning to join us on the tour, please let me know by selecting the "Registration Form" button above.
