2023 SPRINGTIME MOUNTAINS DRIVING TOUR
Limited to 12 cars
When: Wednesday, May 10 thru Saturday, May 13, 2023
This is a driving tour through the mountains of Georgia, North Carolina,
Virginia and Tennessee on some of the most challenging/notable roads
in the southeast. We have most of the routes and destinations finalized
but several are still under development.
Tour Agenda:
Day 1: Wednesday, May 10
We will depart from the QT in Clayton GA at 0900 headed for lunch at
the Trust General Store & Café in Hot Springs, NC. After lunch we will
head for Johnson City, TN to a hotel TBD.
We will cover 200 miles on some familiar and notable roads:
Warwoman Rd, Moonshiner 28, The Copperhead (Hwy 276), The
Rattler (Hwy 209)
Day 2: Thursday May 11
We will depart the hotel at 0900 headed for Tazewell, VA for lunch at a
TBD restaurant. Roads this morning we will be running are: The Snake
(Hwy 421), Hwy 58, and The Back of the Dragon (Hwy 16). Total 143
miles.
After lunch we will be heading for Abingdon, VA to spend the night at a
TBD hotel. We will be running several of Virginia’s Scenic Roads & By-Ways.
Total 120 miles.
Day 3: Friday May 12
We will depart the hotel in Abingdon ,VA at 0900 headed for lunch in
Bean Station, TN with Charles Long an old friend! After lunch
Charles will be joining us for the drive down to Townsend, TN to attend
the 2023 Springtime In The Smokies event. It’ll be a 161 total mile day
arriving in Townsend in the late afternoon.

Day 4: Saturday May 13
We plan to attend the show from 0900-13:30 and then head home to
GA. There’s a couple of routes we can take. Both are approximately 200
miles and take 4 hours.
